The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers,Dakuku Peterside, said on Wednesday that he would not disappoint the people, if elected
.
Peterside made the pledge when he called on King Disreal Bobmanuel, the traditional ruler of Abonnema, in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.
He said he would accomplish the task with the fear of God and cooperation of the people.
“We want to assure you that when we commence the new government, we will not be a disappointment to our people, we will be the pride of our people and you will have cause to look back and say glory to God, we made a right decision,’’ he said.
Peterside said peace was essential for the development of any society.
“We cannot have peace in an environment of injustice or where we enthrone a government that is founded on lies and deceit.
“But, if we have a government of honest men and women who fear God, I believe, we will triumph,’’ he said.
The candidate said the foundation for peace was justice, equity and fairness, adding that there was need for justice and fairness to ensure the development of the state.
Peterside said Abonnema was known for business and tourism and that if elected, his administration would restore the glorious days of the city.
In his response, the traditional ruler of Abonnema, King Disreal Bobmanuel, said traditional rulers and council of chiefs meet regularly to discuss peace and progress of the council.
According to him, our role as traditional rulers is to support the ideas and policies of government and to ensure that they are properly portrayed to the grassroots.
Bobmanuel said the people of Abonnema want the APC to continue to maintain civilsed disposition without causing trouble.
